Los fabricantes de bebidas son muy conscientes de la importancia de cumplir con los principales reglamentos mediante el uso de códigos de embalaje seguros, legibles y duraderos. Al igual que para cualquier otro equipo, hay que tener en cuenta dos costes: la inversión de capital inicial (CAPEX) y los gastos corrientes incurridos al utilizar el equipo para codificar los productos (OPEX). Existen dos tecnologías de codificación posibles: la inyección de tinta continua (CIJ), que ofrece la máxima flexibilidad y una excelente durabilidad; y el láser, que ofrece la codificación más duradera y precisa que existe.
Aunque la tecnología CIJ requiere una menor inversión inicial que el láser, cada una será adecuada para casos distintos. Esta es una decisión que suele ser más compleja y que debe analizarse en función de cada aplicación. Veamos algunos ejemplos.
