Constantia Flexibles and HP Indigo personalise 6.8 million packs for Mondelēz Spain’s Christmas campaign.

Constantia Flexibles, the world’s third-largest flexible packaging manufacturer, has collaborated with its digital partner Smartflex and HP to drive a high-impact Christmas campaign for Mondelēz and its Spanish brand Suchard.

Using the HP Indigo 25K digital press, 6.8 million Suchard chocolate bars were produced with unique numbering, turning each pack into an exclusive piece. This innovation offers consumers a fully personalised experience and strengthens the emotional bond with one of the most beloved brands of the season.

The campaign, brought to life through the HP Brands Innovation Platform and HP’s Garage programme, was launched in Spain with the aim of reimagining Suchard’s traditional nougat. The result was a seasonal product transformed into a collectible item, personalised and uniquely numbered ahead of Christmas.

Thanks to the HP Indigo 25K technology and HP SmartStream Designer software, 6.8 million personalised packs were produced with impeccable colour accuracy and perfect variable data control, with flexibility for short runs, and completed in just six months. Many of them sold out in stores shortly after launch due to high demand.

The HP Indigo 25K combines high-speed digital production with broad substrate compatibility and highly accurate colour control. Its ability to deliver high-quality, personalised flexible packaging at scale made it the ideal choice for producing millions of unique packs without compromising delivery times or the campaign’s visual consistency.

With the slogan “This Christmas, every bar is unique”, Mondelēz Spain launched a packaging-led activation that boosted emotional engagement and point-of-sale visibility during the most competitive period of the year.

“This campaign would not have been possible without HP’s innovation and support. Together, we turned a packaging idea into a nationwide experience,” said Olaya González, Brand Director of Chocolate Seasonal Spain.

This activation represents a major milestone in the European FMCG sector, as it is the first personalisation campaign of this scale in the Spanish confectionery market. It also reinforces the operational and commercial advantages of digital printing, enabling Mondelēz Spain to personalise at scale while reducing waste, limiting overproduction and allowing for an agile supply chain that adapts to seasonal demand.

“This project exemplifies how HP Indigo enables brands and converters to go beyond conventional packaging and create immersive consumer experiences that enhance marketing impact,” said Abel Sánchez, Director of Brands and Sustainable Innovation at HP. “Constantia Flexibles and Smartflex combined precision and creativity, and together we have demonstrated the power of digital printing to deliver both emotional connection and commercial results.”
