Nescafé’ refill bag receives Promarca Innovation Award
The ‘Nescafé’ refill pouch has been awarded one of the InnovacCión prizes in the FMCG sector by the Promarca association, winning first prize in the “Packaging” category for food and beverage brands.
These awards recognize companies that are committed to innovation and best practices in the industry that favor market growth, competitiveness, employment and sustainability in the country.
It will soon be two years since Nestlé launched in Spain this refill bag for its soluble coffee, available for the ‘Classic Natural’ and ‘Natural Decaffeinated’ versions. It is a self-closing package that allows the soluble coffee to be kept in perfect conditions, as well as giving a second life to the classic ‘Nescafé’ jars, by refilling them once they are empty. This packaging is also made from recyclable material and contains 97% less packaging weight than the glass jar, helping to reduce the carbon footprint.
This is one of the commitments made by Nestlé as part of its 2025 sustainability plan, which includes numerous initiatives in various areas, including packaging. Thus, its proposal specifies the intention that, by the end of that period, 100% of its packaging will be recyclable or reusable, in addition to reducing the use of virgin plastic by a third.
