Avery Dennison launches first generation of uncoated decorative solutions
The new range, designed to reduce the carbon footprint, waste and water used in packaging production, will be showcased at Labelexpo 2023 alongside the latest innovations in ‘connected’ packaging powered by atma.io from Avery Dennison.
At Labelexpo Europe 2023, Avery Dennison will launch AD LinrSave and AD LinrConvert, the first generation of linerless decorative solutions enabled by patented micro-perforation technology. This will greatly reduce label waste, reduce CO2 and water footprint, while ensuring functionality and shelf appeal of pressure-sensitive labels. This marks the next stage in Avery Dennison’s innovation journey, enabling the industry to move towards a more sustainable and connected future.
Both products will be on display at booth 5A31 during Labelexpo, Brussels, 11-14 September. Wayne Middleton, Senior Linerless Segment Lead EMENA at Avery Dennison, explains: “AD LinrSave and AD LinrConvert integrate easily into existing equipment and with up to 80% more labels per roll, it means more efficient print runs and fewer changeovers. These more sustainable, linerless labels can be easily and accurately applied to a wide range of packaging types used in sectors including food and beverage, wine and spirits, personal care and home care.
These developments mark the next stage in Avery Dennison’s journey towards a linerless future and follow the April launch of AD XeroLinr DT, a sustainable, linerless alternative for variable information (VI) labels, particularly relevant to today’s booming logistics and e-commerce industries. Using the Carbon Trust tool to measure environmental impact, this range has been shown to result in a 30% reduction in CO2 and 40% reduction in water.
