ecøCatch - Intelligent Sustainable Fish Transport System with PetriTag®

Innovative ice-free seafood transport with thermal control, traceability, bacterial detection and reusable packaging.

The ecøCatch smart cycle is a reusable thermal solution developed by ZØR Thermal for the transport and distribution of fish, combining temperature control, sustainability and traceability. The system is designed to preserve the quality of fresh fish and other seafood products, including shellfish and cephalopods, while improving operational efficiency throughout the logistics chain. It promotes greater sustainability by replacing disposable packaging with reusable solutions and reducing the need for refrigerated transport vehicles.

Developed as part of the “Embalagem do Futuro” (Packaging of the Future) Agenda, co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the ecøCatch smart cycle integrates an insulated container, thermal accumulators and a digital asset tracking and management system. This integrated solution helps protect products during transport while providing valuable information for operational monitoring and the management of reusable assets.
